Jaguar looks to the past for new business

Jaguar may be in the midst of a complete rebranding, but that doesn’t mean it’s totally turning away from its roots.

With the world awaiting the official unveiling of the all-electric Type 00 grand tourer, Jaguar Classic – the British brand’s heritage division – has launched a new stack of components for the timeless E-Type, allowing owners to restore their cars with genuine components.

Jaguar Classic has already offered certain E-Type parts, though it’s now expanded its catalogue to include front frame and crossmember assemblies, floor and sill panels, plus bodywork.

Hundreds of new car deals are available through CarExpert right now. Get the experts on your side and score a great deal. Browse now.

All parts are made from mild steel and finished in eCoat to prevent corrosion and provide extra longevity. The components are also backed by a one-year warranty outside the UK and Europe (where a two-year warranty applies).

According to Jaguar, all of the parts have been “engineered to exact original specifications for a precise fit”.

This was achieved through converting original drawings with modern CAD modelling to make the new tooling required to produce the components.

The available parts suit Series 1, 2 and 3 versions of the E-Type across its available 3.8-litre and 4.2-litre straight-six engines, as well as the later 5.3-litre V12s.

Jaguar Classic’s commitment to keeping E-Types alive extends beyond its parts program, having last year restarted production of the sleek convertible.

Two examples of the two-door icon were produced for a well-heeled client in Southeast Asia, named the Series I Jaguar Classic E‑Type Commemorative (below), and featuring a mix of classic and modern parts.

Sadly, Jaguar no longer produces a coupe – or any vehicles except the F-Pace large SUV, which will continue to be available until 2026 in export markets including Australia, where it and the smaller E-Pace SUV (and even a small number of F-Types) continue to be available.

The brand’s final combustion-engined sports car, a V8-powered F-Type convertible, rolled off the production line last year – exactly 50 years after the last E-Type, ending an 11-year production run in which 87,731 examples were built.

A production version of the Type 00 concept is due to go on sale in 2026, exclusively with electric power.
