Nissan Patrol: Australians finally get the high-tech interior they’ve missed out on

For the second time in 12 months, the Nissan Patrol is getting an interior upgrade in Australia, where buyers of the big, V8-powered off-road SUV will finally be treated to the same high-tech cabin that’s graced overseas versions for years.

The current Y62 Patrol was first released in the Middle East in 2010 and arrived in Australia in 2013, but it didn’t receive a cabin update until last year, after Nissan partnered with Melbourne-based firm Directed Technologies to develop an infotainment system with smartphone connectivity via third-party equipment.

Now, as a part of its 2025 model year update for the Patrol, Nissan Australia has given the large SUV the higher-tech interior seen in North America’s closely related Nissan Armada since 2021, which has long remained off-limits for the local market.

Hundreds of new car deals are available through CarExpert right now. Get the experts on your side and score a great deal. Browse now.

These upgrades include a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen (up from the current Patrol’s aftermarket 10.1-inch display) and a new dash surround that’s fully integrated with the screen.

Carryover features from the most recent update include satellite navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a wireless smartphone charger.

In addition to the infotainment upgrade, there’s also a new instrument cluster with a 7.0-inch TFT display screen – which includes an off-road monitor – plus new steering wheel controls, and a surround-view camera which can detect moving objects.

Buyers of the mid-spec Ti-L now also get a 13-speaker Bose sound system (instead of a six-speaker Infinity system), a rear-view camera and a centre console cool box. The latter two features arrived in the entry-level Patrol Ti and the top-shelf Warrior with the last update, but are no longer available in those variants.

The equipment upgrades have resulted in minor price increases, with the base Ti now starting at $90,600 before on-road costs (up $1340), the Ti-L at $102,100 (up $140) and the off-road Warrior flagship at $105,660 (up $140).

While there are no major changes to the Patrol’s exterior, the available Champagne Quartz paint finish has been deleted in favour of Desert Red Metallic, becoming one of the six available paint colours – though not for the Warrior.

“Practicality, capability and comfort have long been the hallmarks of the Patrol, and these 2025 updates only improve the recipe that has made our flagship SUV so enduringly popular among adventurous Australian families,” said Nissan Oceania vice president and managing director, Andrew Humberstone.

“The 2025 Patrol delivers improved cabin comfort, and technology that only enhances the drive experience whether you’re on- or off-road, without altering any of those core fundamentals.”

There are no mechanical changes for the 5.6-litre petrol V8 that continues to output 298kW of power and 560Nm of torque in the latest Patrol, which attracted 1853 buyers in the first quarter of this year to easily outsell its only direct competitor in the sub-$120,000 upper-large SUV market segment, the Toyota LandCruiser (904 sales).

Nissan’s new-generation Y63 Patrol – powered by a twin-turbo V6 petrol engine – is due to launch in Australia between April 2026 and March 2027.
