Kia Niro EV recalled

Kia Australia is recalling the first-generation Niro EV as it could lose power.

“Due to a manufacturing issue, the high voltage battery safety plug may become loose, resulting in poor terminal contact,” the company says in its recall notice.

“If this occurs, the vehicle may experience a loss of motive power, and the driver may be unable to restart the engine.

“A sudden loss of motive power whilst driving increases the risk of an accident, causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.”

  • A total of 24 examples are affected from 2021
  • The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) list is attached here

If you own an affected vehicle, Kia Australia advises you to immediately contact one of its dealers to have the safety plug replaced, free of charge.
