Volkswagen recently revealed the Polo-sized ID. 2all, and at that event, the automaker revealed a new concept vehicle. The ID. EVERY1 is a compact electric car with a sporty look that represents VW’s first vehicle under its new design language.

The automaker’s head of design, Andreas Mindt, said, “The widely flared wheel arches over the large 19-inch wheels and the athletic and clearly designed surfaces of the silhouette ensure stability. The slightly cheeky smile at the front is a particularly likable feature. A secret sauce element is the roof drawn in the middle, usually seen on sports cars. All of these design elements lend the ID. EVERY1 a charismatic identity with which people can identify.”

This is a concept car, so VW is far more focused on highlighting the design elements and looks than specs. The interior upholstery is made from recycled materials, and the car’s “flying roof concept” lowers the roofline without cutting into headroom inside. There’s also a panel in the dash that lets passengers attach devices like tablets, and the surface can be used as a table in some situations.

Concept cars tend to change a lot before production, so the ID. EVERY1 likely won’t go on sale in its current form. It’s also questionable whether the vehicle will come to the U.S., as American buyers aren’t always the warmest toward small cars. Volkswagen is more likely to integrate some of the EVERY1’s innovations into existing vehicles, such as a future ID.4 refresh.
