While they may not be around forever, the Volkswagen Golf GTI and Golf R are returning for the 2025 model year with a few updates. The cars received styling updates, new options, and more power for the new model year. VW also said they finally have a more intuitive infotainment system, but that remains to be seen.

Pricing starts at $32,445 for the 2025 GTI and $47,100 for the range-topping Golf R. Both cars come with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, but the R’s powertrain saw. 13-horsepower boost for 2025, giving it 328.

Both cars got new bumper designs, and the GTI now comes standard with a front LED lightbar. VW also offers two new colors for the GTI, including Alpine silver Metallic and slate Blue Metallic. The Golf R also has a new 19-inch wheel design that VW says is 20 percent lighter than the units on the outgoing car. A 12.9-inch touchscreen comes standard, running VW’s latest operating system. The cars also have physical controls that replace some of the frustrating touch-sensitive controls in earlier model years.

Black Edition and Euro Style packages are available for the Golf R. The $48,415 Black Edition car has 19-inch gloss-black wheels, carbon fiber interior trim, black exterior accents, and “BLACK” badging on the B-pillars. The $3,795 Euro Style Package includes fabric seats, a sunroof delete, and an Akropovic titanium exhaust system that brings a 15-pound weight reduction and a more aggressive sound.
