VFACTS: Ford Everest pushes past Toyota Prado in photo finish

The Ford Everest has squeezed out a narrow victory over its arch-rival, the Toyota LandCruiser Prado, last month.

The Blue Oval delivered exactly one more example of its Everest in April than Toyota did of its Prado (2234 versus 2233).

However, the Toyota is still substantially ahead in terms of year-to-date deliveries, with 10,674 Prados against 7220 Everests so far in 2025.

That said, April’s result is a feather in Ford’s cap given the new Prado was only launched here late last year.

A gap in supply between the previous and current generations of Prado allowed Ford to claim the title of Australia’s best-selling large SUV last year with the Everest.

Ford delivered 26,494 Everests, well ahead of the Prado with 9802 deliveries.

It was the first time the Everest had ever beat the Prado annually since the nameplate debuted here in 2015.

It was also the first time the Prado had been surpassed as the top-selling large SUV in Australia since the previous-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee knocked it out of top spot in 2014.

So far in 2025, the Prado and Everest have the top two spots in the large SUV sales race, with the Isuzu MU-X a distant third with 4142 deliveries year-to-date.

For context, Isuzu delivered 1233 MU-Xs in April, so the D-Max-based seven-seat off-roader is down both year-on-year and year-to-date, by 34.8 per cent and 38.5 per cent respectively.

Here’s how the Everest, Prado and MU-X are tracking thus far in 2025:

Prado Everest MU-X
January 2847 1679 786
February 2723 1207 713
March 2871 2100 1420
April 2233 2234 1223
Total year-to-date 10,674 7220 4142

The current Everest launched here late in 2022, making it around two years older than the current Prado.

However, Ford has maintained buyer interest in the Everest with additions to the lineup like the Wildtrak and the rugged Tremor.
