Toyota GR Yaris GTS gets aero upgrades

The 2026 Toyota GR Yaris hot hatch will be available with an optional ‘Aero Performance Package’, at least for top-spec GTS versions, from late 2025.

The package is priced at $4500, which sees the kitted-out GR Yaris GTS priced at $64,990 before on-road-costs with a six-speed manual and $67,490 before on-roads as an automatic.

Toyota says the six-piece aero package are inspired by its Yaris rally cars, which compete in the World Rally Championship (WRC), the Japanese Rally Championship, and Super Taikyu racing in Japan.

The changes start with a new front lip spoiler which is designed to reduce lift and add lateral grip for faster cornering, while the bonnet has a large scoop designed to cool the unchanged 221kW/400Nm 1.6-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine.

There are also front fender vents behind the 18-inch wheels – which Toyota says improve stability – while at the back of the car a manually adjustable roof spoiler is claimed to deliver more rear downforce and stability under braking.

Not so visible are new underfloor components which help smooth airflow beneath the vehicle and complete the upgraded aero package.

The pack is only available for the flagship GTS version of the GR Yaris, which offers upgrades including a Torsen limited-slip differential, Michelin tyres and red GR brake calipers.

Pricing across the rest of the GR Yaris range remains unchanged, starting from $55,490 before-on road costs for the cheapest six-speed manual version.

Toyota’s GR (Gazoo Racing) badge is reserved for models and variants that deliver a significant sporting edge, including the GR Corolla hatch, GR 86 coupe and the top-shelf GR Supra coupe, which is at the end of its lifecycle but will form the basis of the Japanese brand’s entry into Supercars racing in Australia next year.

The brand’s GR lineup will further expand soon, with a Toyota USA executive recently confirming the return of the Celica sports car to battle the upcoming Honda Prelude.

The Prelude has been confirmed for Australian release in 2026 with a hybrid powertrain.
