You likely won’t be surprised to know that Toyota has four of the top-five cars on the list, and the 2025 Prius reigns supreme at No. 1. The hybrid vehicle is one of the best cars to save money on gas for years now.
Car and Driver adds that the Prius is now more stylish on the inside, and it remains affordable with a starting price just under $30,000. The new Prius gives drivers a whopping 52-57 combined Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) mpg.

The car with the lowest starting price to make the list was the 2024 Mitsubishi Mirage, which came in at No. 8. The hatchback gets 39 combined mpg and starts at a shade over $18,000.
