Car design is a long and complicated process. From initial discussions to a finished product rolling off an assembly line, it takes incredible amounts of work from a dedicated team of experts in various fields. Your shiny new car or truck didn’t happen by accident, oh no. It was practically brought to life.
After a vehicle’s initial parameters and requirements are settled, designers get busy sketching and modeling what the machine should look like. What is the vehicle’s stance? How many doors are there? Is there additional trim on the sides, and if so, what does it look like? There are countless questions like this that need to be answered.
Exploring the ins and outs of this intricate process, former car designer turned college professor and AutoEsoterica co-host Jason White works hand-in-hand with Jodi Lai and Dan Ilika of AutoTrader Canada to design the perfect car, or at least Dan’s dream vehicle. Can Jason make this machine a reality or is our lofty goal doomed to failure? Check out the embedded video to see how the so-called “Dan Wagon” takes shape in real time.
