Tesla is recalling over 7000 examples of its top-selling Model Y but, as with most recalls from the brand, this is being resolved with an over-the-air update.
“Due to a software issue, the driver side window’s automatic protection system may not operate as intended and result in the window closing with excessive force on any obstruction such as a body part,” the company says in its recall notice.
“If a body part is in the window space when the driver’s side window is closing, it can increase the risk of injury to a vehicle occupant.”

The issue doesn’t affect vehicles running software version 2025.26.6 or later.
Tesla is contacting owners of affected vehicles, and no service appointment needs to be made, as the issue can be addressed via an over-the-air software update.
