Critically ill children have been treated to unique automotive experiences across Australia for the last two weeks, with the Driven Project finishing its Australian events last weekend for its third annual “supercar therapy” event – this time with CarExpert along for the ride.
The global non-profit organisation, which offers unforgettable joyrides to children facing serious health battles, partnered once again with the Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation (PCHF) and Driver Risk Management to bring 20 young heroes to the track for a day of high-speed thrills and unforgettable memories.
The Perth event followed similar experiences in Sydney and Melbourne in the weeks prior.
Held at Driver Risk Management’s racetrack facility in Perth, the event featured a dazzling convoy of exotic supercars, including Lamborghinis, Ferraris, and McLarens — many of them supplied by Laurence Escalante’s private LEE Collection.
With the support of local police escorts and volunteer drivers, the children took their place as VIP co-pilots, buckling into the passenger seats for adrenaline-filled laps around the circuit.
CarExpert was on site to witness the joy, excitement, and emotion first-hand — and to meet some of the inspirational kids and families behind the smiles. It was an event where horsepower met heart.
Driven Project founder and executive director Kevin Gordon said the Perth event was one of the most meaningful stops on the organisation’s global calendar.
“The Driven Project is beyond excited to return to Perth for our third year in a row,” Mr Gordon said ahead of the event.
“With the help of our extraordinary partners, the VIP kids and their families will receive the ride of a lifetime on track at the Driver Risk Management, helping them keep driving forward on the road to recovery.”
The event wasn’t just about speed — it was about support. PCHF CEO Carrick Robinson highlighted the importance of events like these in providing respite and positive experiences during incredibly difficult times.
“These supercar therapy days offer some of our VIP ambassador kids the rare chance to step away from the challenges of the medical world and simply enjoy being kids,” Mr Robinson said.
“These ‘supercar therapy’ days provide a much-needed break for both kids and families, giving them a moment of joy and relief from their health battles.
“These moments aren’t just about creating lasting memories – it’s also an opportunity to reduce anxiety, boost confidence, and bring a sense of normalcy during difficult times. It’s truly an honour to be part of this experience”
The day was also made possible by long-time supporter Laurence Escalante, whose LEE Collection helped ensure an unforgettable fleet of supercars was on hand.
“Meeting the kids and their families, who are going through such challenging times, really reinforces how important events like these are,” Mr Escalante said.
“I’m thrilled everyone came together to do it again and delighted to help expand its reach and impact.”
