Report: Incendiary Devices Found At Texas Tesla Showroom

report incendiary devices found at texas tesla showroom

The Austin American Statesman reports that multiple incendiary devices were found at an Austin-area Tesla showroom yesterday.

Police responding to a call around 8 a.m. found “suspicious devices” and the bomb squad later determined they were incendiary.

This all happens amid a backdrop of protests against Tesla — as well as attacks involving damage to Tesla vehicles. The protests are in response to Tesla boss Elon Musk being appointed by President Donald Trump to head the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE. Musk and DOGE have been cutting federal departments and programs — and many of those cuts have proven unpopular. There’s also concern that some, if not all, of DOGE’s actions are against the law.

Trump has said people caught damaging Tesla property will be treated as domestic terrorists. Three people have been charged in connection with alleged damage or attempted damage of Teslas — one in South Carolina, one in Colorado, and one in Oregon. The minimum penalty, according to the U.S. Department of Justice, is five years in prison, with a maximum of 20 years.

The incident in Austin follows several protests at that location, including a peaceful one over the weekend.
