The Kia EV4 is due for release soon, and we’re learning more about the new electric model as the date approaches. CarScoops recently reported that all EV4 variants will get the simulated gear-shifting system from the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, suggesting that Kia wants its new EV to offer at least a few thrills.

The simulated gear shift feature was originally planned as a performance model-only upgrade, but the decision to expand its use to all EV4 models could help ease previously gas-only buyers into the EV fold as it mimics the behavior of a traditional gas engine and transmission.

Another Ioniq 5 N feature, the fake rev limiter, will be reserved for the most performance-oriented EV4 configurations. It simulates the sound of revving a gas engine until it bounces off the redline and likely won’t be missed by everyday drivers without track day aspirations. The upcoming EV5 won’t sport the features due to it being an older model that has already been on sale in China for some time now.

We haven’t seen any detail on the new EV other than the teaser images shared by Kia, though we don’t have long to wait for more information. The automaker plans to fully reveal the EV4 at its EV Day 2025 in Spain and said it would reach American shores later this year.
