Ram Reportedly Pushes REV and Ramcharger Releases Back Further

ram reportedly pushes rev and ramcharger releases back further

We started hearing about Ram’s electrified pickup trucks back in 2023, but we’re now almost halfway through 2025 with nothing to show for it. Even worse, the automaker reportedly delayed the trucks again, making hopeful buyers wait until 2026 or 2027 to get behind the wheel at the earliest.

Crain’s Detroit Business recently reported that Ram will push the Ramcharger extended-range EV to 2026, while the electric Ram REV will wait until 2027. Company reps declined to detail the situation, but they did confirm the delays, saying it would be “extending the quality validation period” for the trucks.

The company also acknowledged challenges with customer demand for electric vehicles, saying that it “continues to reassess its product strategy in North America to align it with our competitive advantage with the Range Extended Ram and in light of slowing consumer demand for half-ton BEV pickups.”

At this point, it’s starting to feel like we might never see Ram’s electrified trucks. Even if they hit the streets today, they’d be multiple years behind the competition. Rivian, Ford, General Motors, and Tesla have all been selling electric trucks for a while now, and while the Ram’s specs are impressive, they’re impressive by the standards set when their rivals were released. The automaker’s delays may give it more time for quality control, but let’s also hope that it uses that time to release trucks that are competitive by 2027’s standards.
