Ram 1500 recalled

The previous-generation DS-series Ram 1500 pickup fitted with a 3.0-litre turbo-diesel has been recalled due to a potential loss of power which could see the vehicle stall.

“Due to a software issue with the Powertrain Control Module (PCM), the signal from the crankshaft position sensor may fail. As a result, the vehicle may experience a loss of motive power whilst driving and an inability to restart the engine,” said Ram in its recall notice.

“A loss of motive power whilst driving could increase the risk of an accident and injury to vehicle occupants or other road users.”

  • A total of 423 vehicles are affected, produced from 2017 to 2019.
  • The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) list is attached here
  • The original recall notice is attached here

It’s the second Ram 1500 recall in 2025, following a February recall relating to the vehicle’s curtain airbags, impacting vehicles made in 2018 and 2019, also including the 1500 DS.

Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted in writing with directions on how to schedule an appointment with an authorised Ram dealer to have the vehicle inspected and, if necessary, rectified, free of charge.
