question of the day can the 2026 nissan leaf compete

Nissan is teasing the next Leaf. Given the struggles of the previous generations, can the next Leaf compete?

Those on the older side will remember that the first Leaf was a bit of a pioneer — one of the first mass-market EVs with an affordable price. But the car has fallen by the wayside over the years, in terms of competing.

The current car is actually not a bad vehicle, but its range leaves something to be desired, the charge time isn’t fast, and the rest of the world uses a different charging standard.

We can already see the next one is going crossover. I’d guess that it will use NACS for charging, have better range, and charge more quickly.

Will that be enough?

I’ve liked the most recent new Nissans I’ve driven — the company knows its in trouble and is working hard to improve. Will the next Leaf help it do so?

Sound off below.
