During a wide-ranging discussion about safety on this week’s podcast, our guest John Vincent and I touched upon the things that we can do, as drivers, to stay safe while behind the wheel.

I follow a few basics — don’t drive drunk, go hands-free with the phone, try to keep hands at 9 and 3 (I fail at that last one sometimes). I also turn my head when changing lanes, even when testing a car with blind-spot monitoring — which is almost all of them.

Oh, and I always wear my seatbelt.
