Pick of the Day: 2006 Cadillac DTS Convertible Conversion

Change is a part of life. That’s especially true for the automotive industry. No matter how beloved a model is at one point in time, it may cease to exist only a few years later. The Cadillac DeVille fell in between those two extremes before ultimately being discontinued. It was a signature model of the brand for decades until the 2005 model year. It wasn’t killed off, but it was changed into the DTS for 2006. Although those letters may just seem like alphabet soup, they are connected to the past: DTS stands for Deville Touring Sedan. Just like the DeVille model line, this 2006 Cadillac DTS was changed quite a bit – into a convertible.

When Cadillac evolved the DeVille into the DTS, it kept the same basic format of a front-wheel-drive, full-size sedan with Northstar V8 power and vertical taillights. The most obvious change was the sheet metal, which became much more defined and angular. It certainly made the big Caddy stand out.

Clearly, the DTS’s sharp creases weren’t distinctive enough for one of the previous owners of this black DTS. They had its entire roof lopped off and replaced with a black soft top that covers both rows of tan leather seats. No doubt, it’s a radical change, but whether the top is up or down, this car still looks good. It also has an air of swagger and exclusiveness that fits the Cadillac brand. No word on how much flex there is the now-headless body, but this was never meant to be a sports car in the curves anyway.

According to the selling dealer, this custom build started life as a DTS Performance model. That means it came from the factory with xenon headlights and IntelliBeam high beams on the outside and a wood and leather steering wheel and heated and cooled front and heated outboard rear seats on the inside.

Only the Performance version of the DTS received the 292-horsepower L37 4.6-liter Northstar NHP V8, which was paired with a four-speed automatic equipped with Performance Algorithm Shifting. In addition, the four-wheel independent suspension was upgraded to Performance spec and fitted with Magnetic Ride Control.

If you’re looking to make a change to your fleet of interesting automobiles, this 2006 Cadillac DTS convertible conversion could be it. The great part is its transformation has already been completed. All you have to do to get it in your garage is click one of the pictures above or the link below to reach out to the dealer for the price and get the sales process started.
