Pick of the Day: 1935 Ford 4-Door Sedan

It is not surprising that a car nicknamed “Baby” has truly been babied by its owners. Pride of ownership shines through strongly on this gem of a classic sedan:

The Pick of the Day is a 1935 Ford Deluxe four-door sedan listed for sale on ClassicCars.com by a private seller in Jefferson, Georgia. (Click the link to view the listing.)

“Selling because we do not have the time to show and drive the car like our dad did,” the listing says. “Years of care, upgrades and love have made this beauty a true standout. Perfect for car shows, parades or cruising in style, this classic 1935 Ford sedan is ready for her next chapter.”

The metallic red exterior finish is dressed up with ghost flames and pinstripes, and the design language of the body includes Ford’s famous “suicide” doors of the era. The quality of the restoration is evident; a number of photos in the listing show the car with plaques and trophies events over the years. One of the pictures shows the car loaded with occupants in what looks to be a holiday parade, complete with wreaths adorning the front and rear of the car.

The interior has been updated with custom two-tone upholstery and a Grant tilt-adjustable steering wheel. Ford’s marketing materials of the era promoted the 1935 model’s comfortable ride. “Sit in the new Ford, stretch out your legs, relax into the deep, roomy cushions. Or take the wheel and head for a road that is unusually rough. As you glide over the bad spots, you will realize that the new comfort of the Ford is one of the outstanding motor car developments of today.”

There is a prominent V8 hood ornament leading the way, but the car’s original engine was swapped out for a 350ci small-block Chevrolet V8. Mechanical features include a three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, a Mustang II front end and a 1959 Ford rear axle.

“This car has been lovingly maintained and comes with her own history scrapbook, photos of show trophies and parade appearances. Same owner/family for the last 20 years. A true head-turner, this restored hot rod ‘Baby’ is a joy to show and drive,” the listing says.

Perhaps you or someone you know is in the market for a “baby” of their own. Adopt her today!

The asking price is $27,900 or best offer.
