Nissan Qashqai recalled due to fire risk

Nissan is recalling petrol-powered versions of the current-generation Qashqai as a wiring harness issue could lead to a vehicle fire.

“Due to a manufacturing defect, the wiring harness near the 12-volt battery may have been incorrectly assembled,” the company says in its recall notice.

“As a result, the harness retaining nut can become loose and increase electrical resistance which may lead to a vehicle fire.

“A vehicle fire could increase the risk of an accident causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users, bystanders and/or damage to property.”

  • A total of 11,107 vehicles are affected from 2022 to 2024
  • The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) list is attached here

If you own an affected vehicle, you’ll need to schedule an appointment with a Nissan dealership to have the wiring harness connections tightened to the correct specifications, free of charge.
