A lucky Australian customer has taken delivery of the first Maserati MCXtrema bound for our shores just in time Christmas, but don’t expect to see it tooling around local streets.
That’s because this MCXtrema – one of just 62 produced globally – can’t be registered or driven on public roads. You’ll need to keep an eye out on local racetracks, instead.
The customer took delivery of their MCXtrema in Modena, Italy, and they’ve selected a unique livery with Blu Nobile and Bianco Audace Matte paint matching the white-on-blue Trident logo on the bonnet.

Given the exclusivity of the MCXtrema and the customisation on offer, Maserati says no two examples of the supercar are expected to be the same.
The MCXtrema supercar is a track-only version of the MC20 and the brand’s most powerful car to date, pumping out 540kW of power from a retuned version of Maserati’s twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre petrol V6 ‘Nettuno’ engine.
That’s up from the 463kW output of the MC20 road car. Its torque figure of 730Nm is unchanged.
Maserati claims to have been able to achieve the higher outputs thanks to new turbochargers, a racing exhaust, as well as high-performance combustion calibration.
The twin-turbo V6 is mated to a six-speed sequential transmission with a racing clutch and steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. Drive is sent to the rear wheels only via a limited-slip mechanical self-locking differential.
The MCXtrema has a lightweight carbon-fibre monocoque, along with new double-wishbone suspension. It also features four-way racing dampers, springs and an anti-roll bar that can be fully adjusted and tuned for different track conditions
The racer comes with bespoke centre-locking 18-inch forged aluminium wheels which can be paired with either racing slick or wet tyres.
Providing the stopping power are a set of ventilated carbon-fibre racing brakes that come with a brake-bias remote adjuster.
The track-only coupe measures in at 5199mm long and 2045mm wide, which is 530mm longer and 80mm wider than the regular MC20. It also has a dry weight of approximately 1300kg.
While Maserati hasn’t shown off the interior of this particular Australia-bound example, the MCXtrema comes with an FIA-spec roll cage, safety nets, fire extinguisher and integrated safety roof hatch in order to comply with racing regulations.
There’s also a fixed racing bucket seat with four-point mounting and a six-point racing safety harness, as well as an adjustable racing pedal box, adjustable steering column, and an air-conditioning system. A passenger seat is optional.
Ahead of the driver is a carbon-fibre steering wheel with an integrated 5.0-inch central display, buttons and rotary selectors.
Maserati revealed the MCXtrema as a concept in August 2023 at Monterey Car Week in California, before the brand immediately confirmed the exclusive supercar was sold out. The first customer example was delivered a year later in the US.
Since then, MCXtremas have been delivered to customers in the US, UK, France and Taiwan.
