Mahindra builds a Batmobile, and it’s not just for Bruce Wayne

We may be between Batman films, but Mahindra has gone ahead and launched a special Batman edition of one of its models.

Fortunately, Mahindra didn’t use a frumpy Pik-Up as the basis for its Batman-themed special-edition model, instead using the angular, ultra-modern BE 6 electric SUV.

“The BE 6 has always been about boldness and forward thinking. With the Batman Edition, we wanted to go further — to create something so personal, so visually arresting, that owning it feels like owning a piece of cinematic history,” said Pratap Bose, chief design and creative officer for the automotive and farm sectors of Mahindra & Mahindra.

“We’ve obsessed over even the smallest detail, so that every time you look at it, you discover something new.”

BE 6. Bold meets legend.

Meet the BE 6 Batman Edition, an all-electric shadow on wheels, inspired by The Dark Knight.
An SUV for those who don’t just drive, they make an entrance.

And indeed, there’s a bevy of little details once you get past the obvious changes like those enormous Batman decals on the front doors.

Externally, there are Bat emblems on the wheels, rear bumper, quarter panels and windows.

Even the puddle lights show the Bat Signal… on the ground, of course, where the Caped Crusader would probably miss it.

There’s also a giant Bat emblem on the glass ‘Infinity Roof’, which he would most certainly see from any Gotham City rooftop.

Then there are the non-Batman-specific details, like suspension and brake calipers finished in Alchemy Gold. This contrasts with the exterior paint, which is a custom Satin Black finish, as well as the exclusive black 20-inch wheels.

Inside, there’s a brushed gold ‘halo’ around the driver’s cockpit, contrasting with the Charcoal leather instrument panel, and “race car inspired” door straps with Batman Edition branding.

Gold accents can also be found on the steering wheel, infotainment controller, and electronic parking brake, with the suede and leather upholstery featuring gold sepia stitching.

A brushed Alchemy Gold special-edition numbered plaque sits on the centre console. Of course, there’s a bevy of Bat emblems inside too, including on the seats.

Finally, Gothamites will hear you coming thanks to “Custom Batman inspired exterior engine sounds”.

Mahindra will build just 300 examples of the Batman Edition, which is based on the range-topping Pack Three.

This features the larger 79kWh (instead of 59kWh) battery, and a single rear-mounted electric motor producing 210kW of power and 380Nm of torque.

The BE 6 rides on MacPherson strut front and five-link rear suspension, with the Pack Three featuring adaptive dampers.

Deliveries begin in India on September 20, 2025, which, in case you didn’t know, is International Batman Day. That means Indian buyers can get their hands on one well before the next Batman film is released in 2027.

Of course, that film – like The Batman, which premiered in 2022 – will star Robert Pattinson. Mahindra makes clear, however, that the BE 6 Batman Edition is inspired by Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Trilogy starring Christian Bale.

The BE 6 is part of the Electric Origin series of Mahindra SUVs, which also includes the XEV 9e, and the brand confirmed late last year it plans a “phased, calibrated international rollout of the Electric Origin series, starting with right-hand drive markets”.

The Batman Edition isn’t the first superhero-themed special-edition vehicle.

Hyundai offered an Iron Man version of its Kona, introduced here in 2019, which featured an extensive array of changes to make it look like something the superhero would drive.

That included a matte grey and red exterior, unique wheels and bonnet, and even details like Iron Man emblems on the puddle lights, Stark Industries logos on the seats, and custom graphics for the screens and head-up display.

In 2018, Renault also offered a Super Hero Edition of its Kwid in India. This came in two versions, inspired by Iron Man and Captain America respectively.
