Lamborghini offers a look into its future

First images of the Lamborghini Manifesto – a dramatic new concept car created to preview the future design direction of the Italian performance car maker – have been released online.

Unfortunately, the Manifesto is strictly a design study for the brand, with no plans to bring the model into production.

But despite being a concept, the Manifesto appears to already be influencing the shape of its cars, with the recently unveiled Lamborghini Fenomeno clearly echoing the radical concept’s sleek design language.

Shown back in August, the Fenomeno is a limited-edition hypercar that celebrates 20 years of Centro Stile – the company’s in-house design studio.

While Lamborghini refers to the vehicle as a ‘design manifesto’ – an obvious nod to the concept – it stops short of calling out the Manifesto in any official documents.

It was Mitja Borkert – design director at Centra Stile – who leaked the Manifesto via his personal Instagram account, with the concept photographed in the same studio as the Fenomeno, against a bright yellow wall.

At the same time, the concept was rolled out to those attending the recent 20th anniversary celebrations at the facility.

Referred to as a “visionary sculpture”, the Manifesto concept retains the iconic wedge shape of modern Lamborghini supercars, but does away with the large air intakes behind the jet-fighter-style canopy.

Adopting the Manifesto’s Y-shaped tail-lights and wide stance, the Fenomeno is powered by a 6.5-litre V12 combined with a pair of electric motors on the front axle, producing a combined 794kW of power.

Just 29 examples are being made, and Lamborghini claims the Fenomeno can reach 100km/h from a standstill in just 2.4 seconds.
