Kia Tasman X-Line ute gets $3000 discount plus extra gear amid soft sales

The Kia Tasman X-Line has been given a $3000 price cut – as well as more equipment – despite the hotly anticipated Ford Ranger and Toyota HiLux challenger only going on sale three months ago.

The penultimate X-Line 4×4 version of Kia’s first dual-cab ute has been given a limited-time $3000 price cut, to now start at $67,990 drive-away – and also gains $3897 worth of extras, representing a saving of nearly $7000.

Those extras include metallic paint (normally $700) and a Sports Pack comprising tubular side steps ($956), soft tonneau cover ($1065), and a short-arm sports bar ($1176).

The discounted pricing is officially scheduled to end on October 31, 2025.

While promotional offers are not unusual, they’re less likely early in a new-generation model’s lifecycle. The Tasman – a new nameplate and entirely new vehicle – only went on sale in July 2025.

Kia Australia has been approached by CarExpert for comment.

The new incentive follows discounts for the Tasman even before its release, when drive-away pricing was announced across the lineup following the announcement of list prices pre-launch.

Kia Australia has long publicly targeted 20,000 annual sales for its first ute, which equates to an average of 1667 sales a month and would put it among the country’s five most popular utes.

With an admittedly limited dual-cab range so far, the Tasman has found 2499 new homes since its release, for a monthly average of just 625 sales. Its September result of 806 sales is the Tasman’s best monthly figure yet, placing it seventh in the pecking order with 4×2 and 4×4 vehicles combined.

Even if the Tasman notched up 806 deliveries each month, its annual total would be 9672 – less than half of its public sales forecast – although the full model lineup is yet to appear in local showrooms.

In contrast, the BYD Shark 6 plug-in hybrid dual-cab was launched in February 2025 in a single model grade, and it has racked up 14,111 registrations year-to-date, including 1193 in September alone.

After an extensive and expensive advertising campaign featuring some of Australia’s highest-profile sports stars, the order book for the Tasman dual-cab opened in April 2025 with a starting price of $42,990 before on-road costs.

Kia Australia announced drive-away pricing two months later in June, starting at $46,490 for the entry-level Tasman S 4×2 dual-cab.

To further muddy the water, pricing for the Tasman cab/chassis range (including both two-door single-cab and four-door dual-cab body styles) was announced in August without drive-away pricing, ahead of their arrival by the end of this year.
