Hyundai Ioniq 6 recalled

by

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 has been recalled due to a faulty charging port door which could fall off the vehicle.

“The affected vehicles charging port door panel may misaligned due to poor adhesive application that causes the retaining hook to unlatch, resulting in the port door panel detaching from the hinge assembly whilst driving,” Hyundai Australia says in its recall notice.

“If the charging port door panel detaches from vehicle whilst driving, this could increase the risk of an accident-causing injury or death to road users, bystanders, and/or damage to property.”

“Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted in writing by Hyundai Motor Company Australia (HMCA), asking them to schedule an appointment as soon as possible with an authorised Hyundai Dealer to repair the Charging Port Door,” the recall notice reads.

It’s the fourth recall for the Ioniq 6, with a December 2024 recall to address issues with battery charging software superseding an April 2024 notice, with a recall for a faulty driveshaft also issued in April 2024.
