honda announces the 2026 cr v with new trailsport variant

Honda is expanding its TrailSport offerings for the 2026 model year with the CR-V TrailSport Hybrid. While it won’t be a rugged off-roader, Honda has made some meaningful improvements that should make it legitimately capable on lighter terrain.

The CR-V TrailSport Hybrid comes with an improved traction management system, all-terrain tires, and beefier styling. Hybrid models have always been quicker and more engaging to drive than their gas-only counterparts, so the TrailSport should benefit from the torque generated by Honda’s two-motor hybrid system. The SUV also has unique TrailSport badging and interior touches, including stitched logos on the seats. Honda equipped a new Individual driving mode to let drivers set up custom characteristics for various situations and said that the TrailSport’s A/T tires don’t trade on-road comfort for better off-road performance.

All CR-V Hybrid come with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors, making a combined 204 horsepower and 247 pound-feet of torque. Gas variants have a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder with 190 horsepower and 179 pound-feet of torque.

Inside, all CR-V’s now start with a nine-inch touchscreen, up two inches from 2025. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, along with wireless phone charging. Top trims, including the TrailSport, come with a 10.2-inch digital gauge cluster, and the top Sport Touring Hybrid trim adds Google built-in features, including Maps, Google Assistant, and some Play Store options.
