GWM has overhauled its capped-price servicing program for Cannon ute models equipped with its 2.4-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine.
It now requires servicing every 12 months or 15,000km, up from 12 months or 10,000km and aligning it with the service schedule previously confirmed for the related Tank 300 diesel SUV – not to mention various ute rivals.
The change sees the Cannon now offer capped-price servicing for five years or 70,000km, up from 45,000km.

The first scheduled visit to a GWM service centre is also now required at 12 months or 10,000km, instead of six months or 5000km. The following visit is now at 24 months or 25,000km, instead of 18 months or 15,000km.
GWM says some owners may receive a service reminder indicating a first scheduled service at 5000km, as seen in the original service book. However, it will retrospectively issue revised service/warranty booklets with the new service schedule.
The Cannon continues to be backed by a seven-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty, with five years of roadside assistance and capped-price servicing.
The Tank 300 with the same engine, in contrast, gets seven years of roadside assistance and capped-price servicing.

That results in a total service cost over five years of $2530, up from $2065 though with a greater mileage allowance.
“After extensive collaboration with our factory and R&D teams, we have successfully optimised the service schedule for these models — improving owner convenience while also lowering overall maintenance costs,” said GWM Australia and New Zealand chief operating officer John Kett.
GWM hasn’t outlined any changes to the service schedules for Cannons equipped with the 2.0-litre turbo-diesel four.
