Ford Australia surprised by demand for more rugged Everest

Ford Australia is reporting greater than anticipated customer interest in its new Everest Tremor SUV, and is projecting strong sales volume from its new off-road-focused variant.

Speaking with media at the launch of the Everest Tremor, product and retail marketing manager for the Everest lineup, George Thomas, said 370 Tremors have already been sold and it could end up accounting for around 10 per cent of the Everest’s yearly volume in 2025.

“It’s been a surprise to us in terms of the take up and excitement over this product,” Mr Thomas said, “[The sales mix] is quite variable, but you know we could be anywhere [around] 10 per cent of our mix, but you know, we’re looking at opportunities.”

Ford Australia’s marketing director Ambrose Henderson added: “The amount of traffic that [the Everest Tremor] drove for us across all of our channels was far in excess of what we had predicted”.

“And that, I think, really shows that we took the customer inside and really drove for what customers wanted [with this product] and customers therefore are interested.

“As customer demand increases, we’ll obviously take that into account for production, and we’ll make sure that we mix our products and range to deliver on that.”

Based on the Everest’s record 26,494 units delivered in 2024, a 10 per cent sales mix could mean over 2000 Everest Tremors will hit customer driveways – and the trails – throughout the course of this year.

Unlike the Ranger Tremor dual-cab ute, which was a limited-run model in Australia, the Everest Tremor is a permanent new member to the lineup.

Priced from $76,590 before on-road costs, it’s $3150 dearer than the Sport 4WD it’s based on.

Also unlike it’s limited-edition dual-cab sibling, the Everest Tremor comes with the larger 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel rather than the smaller and less powerful 2.0-litre Bi-Turbo oiler.

Stay tuned to CarExpert for our first drive review of the new Everest Tremor on Thursday, March 6 at 10:00am.
