Cupra Formentor VZx deal slashes almost $9000 off of hot SUV

Cupra Australia has announced a number of sharp pricing offers on its top-selling Formentor crossover range, with up to nearly $9000 in discounts depending on variant available until June 30.

Headlining the pricing promotions is the top-spec 228kW Formentor VZx, which is now on sale from $61,990 drive-away or a whole $8800 less than its usual going price.

The plug-in hybrid VZe retains a $5825 discount in all states and territories as announced earlier this year– the PHEV doesn’t have nationwide drive-away pricing like petrol models.

At the lower end of the range, the entry-level Formentor V is still being advertised from $47,990 drive-away, also a promotional offer announced earlier this year. The V’s advertised deal is $8500 less than the original asking price.

Further to the Formentor drive-away pricing offers, Cupra is offering a complimentary five-year servicing package with all Formentor, Leon and Ateca models until the end of the financial year that’s worth $1990.

Those looking to finance their new Cupra Formentor are also being offered a 5.0 per cent comparison rate and guaranteed future value as part of the campaign.

After a sales slump in 2024, Cupra Australia is seeing better fortunes so far this year. With 416 new registrations in March and 788 units year to date, the Spanish performance upstart was up 95.3 per cent for the month and is currently up 36.1 per cent for the year to March 31.

Sharp offers on the popular Formentor – which currently makes up 57 per cent of all Cupras sold in Australia since the brand’s launch – have no doubt helped, with 302 units delivered in March and 469 delivered year to date.

There’s still some life in the current model yet, with the brand’s local division recently confirming a shuffle of its upcoming product rollout which will see the facelifted Formentor range arrive in the second half of 2025 rather than May-June as initially promised.

Speaking with CarExpert at the recent launch of the all-electric Tavascan crossover, director for Cupra Australia – Ben Wilks – confirmed the shuffle will give each new model “the right time in the sun”.

“It’s important to really roll these out responsibly in terms of timing, each of these models needs the right time in the sun. These are not necessarily delays from a factory perspective, but rather structure and order from our perspective,” Mr Wilks said.

“So you have Tavascan today; Terramar in July; the Leons, including the Sportstourer which we’re all very excited about in [the third quarter]; the Formentors will follow after that; and then the Born VZ at the end of the year. That order and structure gives customers confidence.

“And all of that gives our growing network the confidence that we need to keep expanding and to keep growing the Cupra brand.”
