Chery Australia has recalled 1923 examples of the Tiggo 4 Pro, after discovering a fault with its autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system which makes the SUV non-compliant with Australian vehicle regulations.

“Due to a software issue, the vehicle may not have the autonomous emergency braking sound alarm activated,” the carmaker said in its recall notice.

“Failure of the AEB sound alarm could increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users.

“Vehicles are not compliant with Australian Design Rule 98/01 – Advanced Emergency Braking for Passenger Vehicles and Light Goods Vehicles.”
