CarExpert Choice winner: Best Luxury Sports Car

The Chevrolet Corvette has been named Australia’s best luxury sports car in the inaugural 2025 CarExpert Choice Awards.

It beat out the Porsche 911 and BMW M4 for the title, with both German performance cars being named finalists.

While the 911 is available in a dizzying array of variants and the M4 is offered in three, the Corvette sits somewhere in the middle with six varieties Down Under, at least so far – and there’s quite a bit of variety on offer.

Hundreds of new car deals are available through CarExpert right now. Get the experts on your side and score a great deal. Browse now.

The base Stingray 2LT and 3LT coupe and convertible open the lineup with a 369kW/637Nm naturally aspirated 6.2-litre petrol V8, while the hybrid E-Ray coupe adds an electric motor to bring all-wheel drive and outputs of 488kW and 807Nm.

Finally, there’s the 475kW/595Nm Z06 coupe that’s powered by a 5.5-litre flat-plane crank V8. For now, the hotter ZR1 and ZR1X with their twin-turbo flat-plane crank V8 engine are being produced only in left-hand drive, ruling them out for a local berth.

Priced from $186,990 before on-road costs – just $10,000 more than the cheapest M4 and almost $100,000 less than the most affordable 911, both of which offer less power – the eighth-generation (C8) Corvette is the first to be fitted with a mid-mounted engine.

It’s also the first global version of the iconic American supercar, and is built in right-hand drive at the factory.

With traditional supercar credentials like a mid-mounted V8 engine, impressive handling, and aggressive styling, topped off with that sharp pricing, the Chevrolet Corvette is our choice in this category.
