Victorian police are appealing for public assistance following the theft of four luxury cars including a million-dollar Ferrari 488 Pista in the Melbourne suburb of Balwyn North last Friday.

Boroondara Crime Investigation Unit detectives understand a man gained entry to a property on Greythorn Road about 1:30am on August 15.

Once inside the property, the man stole four sets of car keys, a wallet and air pods.

Over the course of three hours, he stole all four cars – one by one – from a garage and carport while a family was asleep inside the house.

According to Victoria Police, the stolen cars included:

  • A red 2019 Ferrari 488 Pista with Victorian registration AYV298
  • A green/teal 2024 BMW M3 Touring with Victorian registration DFR369
  • A black 2009 Mercedes-AMG CLS63 with Victorian registration XLE930
  • A black 2011 BMW 135i with Victorian registration XTB851

All four vehicles remain outstanding, but the Ferrari – said to be worth about one million dollars – is highly visible, thanks to its distinctive black and white body stripe.

The 488 Pista would have been one of a small number of examples to arrive in Australia from mid-2019, priced at $645,000 before on-road costs when new.

Meantime, the M3 Touring was priced at $177,500 plus on-roads when first examples arrived Down Under in early 2023.

Detectives have released an image and CCTV of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries, plus these images of the stolen Ferrari and BMW.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or submit a confidential online report here.
