Currently listed on AutoHunter is this restored 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 powered by the 360-horse LS5 big-block. The 454 is paired with an M22 “Rock Crusher” four-speed manual transmission. Other features include Cowl Induction with black racing stripes, hood pins, console, gauges, and more. Painted in Autumn Gold metallic over a black vinyl interior, this Bow Tie comes from the selling dealer with the original window sticker, original broadcast sheet, Protect-O-Plate, engine build specifications sheet, promotional pamphlets, and a clear title.
The Autumn Gold metallic paint is complemented by black racing stripes on the hood and trunk lid. Other exterior features include a Cowl Induction hood, hood pins, rocker panel and wheel trim,a driver-side chrome mirror, a rubber SS pad on the rear bumper, and more. A vinyl top was originally specified for this car but was left off during the restoration. A set of 15-inch SS wheels are wrapped in 235/60 Cooper Cobra Radial G/T raised-white-letter tires.
The cabin is furnished in black vinyl with bucket seats up front. A center console houses a four-speed shifter and a clock. Other features include a three-spoke steering wheel with power steering, factory AM/FM push-button radio, rear speaker, and more.
Instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer, 7,000-rpm tachometer, and gauges for the coolant temperature, amperage, and fuel level. The odometer currently shows 330 miles though the true mileage is unknown.
The LS5 454 was rated at 360 horsepower for the SS 454, though LS5-powered Corvettes and full-size Chevrolets were rated at 390 horses despite having basically the same engine. A “Rock Crusher” M22 close-ratio four-speed manual transmission is the perfect tool for bonsai-run power shifts. It should be noted that while this is a real LS5 car, it doesn’t have the original 454. The seller claims the engine (built to factory specs) has about 3,000 miles on it, while the rebuilt transmission has about 200.
The undercarriage features the F41 suspension, power front disc brakes, and a dual exhaust system.
