Five cars belonging to a Gold Coast family have been recovered after being stolen in one night by armed thieves.

On the night of November 22, 2025 and into the early hours of the next morning, five vehicles were allegedly stolen from a Helensvale home: a 2017 Porsche Cayenne, 2019 Mercedes-Benz E220, 2023 Mercedes-AMG G63, 2024 Mercedes-Benz E300, and a 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC300.

Just days later on November 27, Queensland Police Service (QPS) officers conducting a wanding exercise at a shopping centre in Booval in Ipswich apprehended a teenage boy who allegedly ran from them.

When searched, QPS officers allegedly found several sets of car keys and drugs, and further investigations by Ipswich Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) detectives led to the recovery of the five vehicles in Logan.

The unfortunate homeowner, identified as Sourabh, told A Current Affair a pair of thieves struck his house on Saturday, November 22, bypassing CCTV, an alarm and a guard dog.

They allegedly stole two vehicles, before returning later in the night – at around 2:00am – with a third accomplice and fleeing with three more.

CCTV footage showed one of the alleged thieves wearing a black face covering and gloves, and appearing to carry multiple knives, one of which was allegedly used to bypass a screen door.

Sourabh and his partner, who have a newborn, told A Current Affair the thefts have left them shaken and they’re now planning to move.

The QPS has charged two alleged offenders for these thefts.

A 17-year-old Mutapilly boy has been charged with several offences, including five counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possessing dangerous drugs, obstructing police, and attempting to enter a dwelling with intent at night whilst armed in company.

He’s due to reappear in the Ipswich Childrens Court on January 12.

A 22-year-old Forrest Hill man was also arrested on November 27, charged with four counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, three counts of entering a dwelling and committing an indictable offence, and one count each of receiving tainted goods, stealing, trespassing, and possession of dangerous drugs.

He’s due to reappear in Richlands Magistrate Court on January 23.

The state government of David Crisafulli, who became Queensland’s Premier last year, launched a crackdown on youth offenders shortly after taking office.

The Premier announced in October that 2986 youth offenders have been charged under his Adult Crime, Adult Time laws, and the number of victims of stolen cars to the end of September 30 dropped 15.6 per cent compared with the same period last year.
