Mercedes-Benz has a new product roadmap that doesn’t involve being an all-electric automaker. The company recently said it would release a series of new models by the end of 2027, and fewer than half of them will be EVs, telling its U.S. dealers that it would be “flexible and tactical” with new powertrain development efforts.

The German automaker initially planned to only develop electric vehicle architectures going forward, but the new plan will see the release of 19 gas and 17 electric vehicles in the next year and a half. Mercedes also said future models would ride on platforms that could accommodate a range of propulsion options, including gas, hybrid, and electric.

AMG will also retain gas models, with Mercedes CEO Ola Kallenius saying, “We’ll have a balanced picture between BEV and ICE. Everything will be available well into the 2030s.” Beyond its current EQ-branded EVs, which are on a production pause at the moment, the automaker is expected to begin rolling out a series of new electric luxury vans for the U.S. next year, which can be fitted for private or commercial use.

Several models in Mercedes’ existing lineup will see updates in the next few years, including the C-Class, which is expected to receive a facelift in 2027 and a new electric model. The E-Class gets a new AMG wagon with the E 53, which arrives for 2026, and a new electric AMG SUV is expected by 2027.
