2025 GWM Haval H6 prices: Mid-size SUV gets PHEV to take on Outlander, Sealion 6

The facelifted GWM Haval H6 is due in showrooms this month, and the mid-size SUV range has been expanded to include front- and all-wheel drive plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variants.

The related Haval H6 GT ‘coupe’ had already added a PHEV option earlier this year, but now its more traditional wagon sibling has finally gained a PHEV powertrain in Australia after having offered one in China since 2022.

Available only in top-shelf Ultra trim, the Haval H6 PHEV is priced at $47,990 drive-away in front-wheel drive guise and $50,990 drive-away with all-wheel drive.

That makes the front-wheel drive variant $4000 more expensive than the Ultra Hybrid (pictured here) and $9000 more than the petrol-powered Ultra.

Joining the existing turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol and hybrid 1.5-litre four-cylinder powertrains, the PHEV system combines a 1.5-litre petrol engine with two electric motors.

In front-wheel drive guise, it produces total system outputs of 240kW of power and 540Nm of torque, with claimed fuel consumption of 1.0L/100km and an electric-only driving range of 106km – both under the NEDC cycle.

The all-wheel drive PHEV, wearing Hi4 branding, offers total outputs of 268kW and 760Nm, with fuel consumption of 1.1L/100km and up to 100km of electric-only range.

GWM also claims combined range of over 1000km, as well as a 0-100km/h acceleration time of just 4.8 seconds.

While that’s slightly quicker than the Haval H6 GT PHEV, which is claimed to hit 100km/h in 4.9 seconds, the Haval H6 PHEV AWD produces less power and torque, and achieves a shorter electric-only range due to a smaller 19.09kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery.

The Haval H6 GT PHEV, in contrast, uses a 35.43kWh ternary lithium-ion battery, offers 180km of NEDC range, and pumps out total outputs of 321kW and 762Nm.

Like the Haval H6 GT PHEV, the new Haval H6 PHEV can be charged using DC power.

GWM claims it takes 28 minutes to charge it from 30 to 80 per cent at 34kW.

PHEV versions of the Haval H6 do without the auto parking assist and auto reverse assist offered in petrol and hybrid Ultras.

The new PHEV variants may be the headline acts of the refreshed 2025 GWM Haval H6 lineup, but there have been plenty of other changes made.

The base 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, for example, now produces 170kW (up 20kW) and 320Nm, and ditches its seven-speed dual-clutch auto for a new nine-speed dual-clutch unit.

All Haval H6s feature freshened exterior styling, with a cascading, dark-finish grille – reminiscent of the outgoing Hyundai Palisade and new LDV Terron 9 – and plunging LED daytime running lights, albeit unchanged headlights.

Down back, the full-width light bar has been replaced with two separate tail -ight units that bookend a GWM badge. A hands-free power tailgate is standard.

There’s new black wheel-arch cladding, plus 19-inch black alloy wheels. GWM has also ditched the chrome accents once found on the front quarter panels, window surrounds and the lower parts of the doors.

Overall length has also been increased by 50mm.

Inside, the gear selector has been moved to the steering column, while a new 14.6-inch infotainment touchscreen replaces the old 10.25- and 12.3-inch units.

It features GWM’s latest-generation operating system, and includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The digital instrument cluster remains a 10.25-inch unit, but features a new visual layout previously seen in GWM’s Tank models.

There’s a thicker steering wheel with sculpted indentations at the 10 and 2 o’clock positions, while the Haval H6 also gains a new available cream interior colourway.

Stay tuned for our detailed price and specs article for the 2025 GWM Haval H6 lineup.
