The crew at Nissan has added a Nismo trim to the gargantuan Armada SUV, jacking horsepower and giving it a noisier exhaust.
With this addition for 2026, the Armada is a model line which now runs the gamut – luxurious Platinum Reserve, off-roady Pro-4X, and now the brawny Nismo. The company says it has cranked power by 35 ponies compared to other Armada variants, meaning the twin-turbo 3.5L V6 is now good for 460 horsepower. Also on board is an exhaust system which is described as louder and less restrictive, perhaps giving the Armada a skiff of GT-R snarl. We’ll find out after driving one.
Other changes include a rethink of tuning in the electric power steering, along with more “engaging and direct handling” out of the available adaptive air suspension system. The wheels are specific to the trim and wrapped in Nismo-spec tires. Whilst they aren’t called out in the official bumf, press images clearly show a set of Bridgestone Alenza Sport A/S hoops sized 275/50 on a 22-inch wheel. An ‘H’ speed rating also appears, indicating a 130 mph top speed.
Of course, the moneyed set who will front for one of these beasts are likely more concerned with standing out, so Nissan has translated Nismo design cues for duty on the huge Armada. The trim has a tweaked front and rear fascia, adding a unique grille and rear spoiler. Fender flares and red-painted brake calipers plus a set of side steps show up on the sides, while the Stealth Gray paint shown here is apparently specific to the trim. Inside, look for adjustable bolsters on the quilted leather-appointed front seats, aluminum pedals, and no shortage of red accents.
Nissan long offered a Nismo trim on the Patrol, an Armada equivalent in other markets, and it’s good to finally see it here. Price hasn’t been announced but Nissan places it between the Pro-4X and Platinum Reserve in its description of the Armada trim ladder. Right now, those machines are priced at $73,740 and $76,990 respectively, plus fees, for the 2025 model year.
The 2026 Armada is expected to hit dealers this autumn.
