2025 Toyota Corolla Cross: GR Sport joining updated Australian lineup

The Toyota Corolla Cross GR Sport has been confirmed for Australia – with pricing yet to be announced – as part of a range-wide update scheduled to arrive here during the second half of 2025.

The ‘dynamically focused’ Corolla Cross GR Sport will join GR Sport versions of the Yaris Cross, C-HR, HiLux and LandCruiser in Toyota Australia showrooms.

These complement the more hardcore, high-performance GR (Gazoo Racing) Yaris, Corolla and Supra, with Toyota Australia saying GR and GR Sport models are an “increasingly important” part of its lineup.

The carmaker first showed a Corolla Cross GR Sport at the Bangkok motor show in March 2025.

Toyota has confirmed the Corolla Cross GR Sport will be part of a facelift for the Corolla Cross lineup with revised exterior styling and fresh colours, though no mechanical or equipment changes have been detailed.

While pricing also has yet to be announced, the Corolla Cross GR Sport is expected to cost more than the current top-grade Corolla Cross Atmos priced at $50,030 before on-road costs.

The GR Sport will stand apart visually with its own, chunkier front and rear bumper design, dark 19-inch GR Sport alloy wheels, and a more aggressive stance thanks to lower sports suspension.

Like other GR Sport models, the Corolla Cross GR Sport will use electric power steering with a unique calibration to match its larger wheels and retuned suspension.

All Australian-market Corolla Cross models since 2024 use a 2.0-litre four-cylinder hybrid powertrain with 146kW of power.

Toyota hasn’t confirmed if the Corolla Cross GR Sport will feature front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

The 2025 Toyota Yaris Cross is the only GR Sport model currently offered in front-wheel drive, with CH-R GR Sport now only offered with all-wheel drive.

The GR Sport will top the updated Corolla Cross lineup, which will continue with the current GX, GXL and Atmos grades with refreshed exterior styling including a new LED headlight signature on GXL and Atmos.

The broader colour palette includes Massive Grey, Ink, Ash Slate, Shadow Platinum and Feverish Red, along with the carryover Glacier White and Frosted White finishes.

Two-tone colour options with a black roof will be offered with Massive Grey, Ink, Ash Slate, Shadow Platinum and Feverish Red, along with the carryover Glacier White and Frosted White.

It appears we’ll continue to get the Corolla Cross from Japan, with the GR Sport expected to go on sale there too.

A Corolla Cross GR Sport was first revealed in Thailand earlier this year, albeit with a different look to the vehicle going on sale here this year. There have historically been cosmetic differences between Japanese-, US- and Thai-built Corolla Cross models.
