2026 Volkswagen Touareg Wolfsburg Edition: Sporty large SUV send-off priced for Australia

The current Volkswagen Touareg is wrapping up production soon, and it’s being sent off with a new special edition.

The 210TDI Wolfsburg Edition replaces the 210TDI R-Line, while all Touaregs – including the 170TDI, 210TDI Elegance, and the plug-in hybrid R flagship – pick up special ‘Final Edition’ interior appliques.

It’s due in Australian showrooms from March 2026, priced at $124,990 before on-road costs – up $8700 on the 210TDI R-Line.

Over the 210TDI R-Line, it includes the following equipment:

  • Panoramic sunroof
  • 21-inch black Leeds alloy wheels
  • Black roof rails, window surrounds, grille and mirror caps
  • Head-up display
  • Dynaudio Consequence sound system
  • Passenger seat memory
  • 4-zone climate control
  • Power door latching
  • Power-adjustable steering column with memory

For the 210TDI R-Line, some stock of which may still be available, a panoramic sunroof was a $3300 option, while many of the other features – including a head-up display and power door latching – were included in a $8000 Sound & Comfort package.

Metallic paint is standard on the 210TDI Wolfsburg Edition, with Silicon Grey and Grenadilla Black finishes available – usually a $2200 option.

Meloe-blue is a $700 option, down from $2700, while a new Wolfsburg Edition-exclusive Oryx White pearlescent finish is a $2000 option.

As with the 210TDI R-Line, power is provided by a 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6 producing 210kW of power and 600Nm of torque, mated with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.

“The Touareg 210TDI Wolfsburg Edition places alongside the Touareg R as the heroes of the current generation model, with additional luxury and exclusivity,” said local Volkswagen Passenger Vehicles product boss Arjun Nidigallu.

The company confirmed the end of Touareg production in October, and at the time a Volkswagen Group Australia spokesperson confirmed the flagship SUV will “remain in local showrooms well into 2026”.

But the Touareg name may not be dead forever, with a report from Automobilwoche suggesting Volkswagen plans to reintroduce the badge on a battery-electric model in 2029.

To the end of November, Volkswagen has delivered 728 Touaregs in Australia this year, down 12.6 per cent on the same period last year.
