Volkswagen’s ID. Buzz promotions all showed two-tone vans in dazzling colors, but the automaker has struggled to get vehicles in those color combinations to buyers in the United States. Production issues caused VW to build more vans in far less exciting colors like black and silver, and while sales have been surprisingly steady, the company is offering a wrap program that lets buyers add the more desirable colors to the vans already on dealers’ lots.
Hein Schafer, VW’s U.S. SVP of sales, said, “Only in the last month or so have we really got our California dealers properly stocked.” He also told Automotive News that, “The single-tone vehicle doesn’t sell as quick as the two-tone car. As soon as the dealers dress them up and wrap them, we see them moving again.”
The wrap program costs an extra $3,000 for interested buyers, but VW will split that cost with the individuals. That’s about average for a basic automotive wrap job and may even be a little on the low side for a large van, but it’s a bit of a low-rent fix for such an expensive vehicle.
The 2025 ID. Buzz starts at $60,000 for the base Pro S, and getting the top 1st Edition Trim with 4Motion adds $10,000 to that number. That said, not all buyers will have to get a wrap. A quick search of the inventory in and around my home area in New England shows several two-tone vans available, though there are several black, white, and silver Buzzes in between.
