The second-generation Hyundai Palisade will go on sale in Australia before the end of this year, and it will initially be available exclusively with with hybrid power.

It’s due for Australian release during the fourth quarter of 2025 (October to December).

It will be the first time the Palisade has been offered with a hybrid powertrain in any market, with Hyundai’s flagship petrol-powered SUV featuring the carmaker’s new hybrid powertrain.

This mates a turbocharged 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with 193kW of power and 353Nm of torque paired with an electric motor producing 54kW and 264Nm and a six-speed automatic transmission, resulting in a total system power output of 246kW.

It’ll effectively replace the 2.2-litre turbo-diesel of the outgoing model, while a 2.5-litre turbocharged petrol four – as seen in the smaller Santa Fe – is “under study” for our market.

Hyundai did the same thing with the Santa Fe, confirming only the hybrid first and launching a petrol engine several months later.

The Palisade’s petrol engine is mated with an eight-speed automatic, and produces 207kW and 422Nm – down 10kW but up 67Nm on the outgoing model’s 3.8-litre petrol V6.

Both new powertrains are offered with front- or all-wheel drive in Korea. While the outgoing V6 was only offered with front-wheel drive in our market, the new Santa Fe 2.5T is available with either front- or all-wheel drive in Australia.

Below are the key performance figures of the current (2025) Palisade and the upcoming new-generation model (2026).

The incoming petrol engine is thirstier than both the turbo-diesel and the V6 it replaces in certain variants, while it also offers minimal or increased emissions outputs – which will lead to it being more harshly penalised under the federal government’s New Vehicle Efficiency Standard (NVES).

The new Palisade has grown across every dimension.

Dimensions 2025 Hyundai Palisade 2026 Hyundai Palisade
Length 4995mm 5060mm
Width (excl. mirrors) 1975mm 1980mm
Height 1750mm 1805mm

Hyundai Australia has yet to confirm what the local lineup will look like, though we’d expect more than one trim level. It has confirmed it’ll continue to be offered in either seven- or eight-seat configurations.

The Palisade will be available in South Korea with wheels ranging from 18 to 21 inches in diameter.

Its exterior styling is an evolution of the current model’s, with arguably an even more premium look than before.

Its ‘pixel’ lighting elements consist of five wide daytime running light segments, bookending the headlight clusters that push right up to the grille.

Other distinctive design cues include the metallic D-pillar trim, tail-lights that mirror the lighting up front, and angular creases in the fenders above the curved wheel-arches.

New exterior paint colours include Ecotronic Grey Pearl, Cast Iron Brown Pearl, Galaxy Maroon Pearl, and Crazy Blue Pearl.

Inside, there’s a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen neatly tucked into the dash.

Hyundai Australia expects the sales split between the new Palisade and the recently redesigned Santa Fe to be around 50/50.

The Korean auto brand is one of only a few in Australia to offer a pair of large, three-row crossover SUVs, with Mazda being another with its CX-80 and CX-90.
