The ageing Audi Q7 lineup has been bolstered by a pair of sporty new S line editions, which are claimed to offer $9000 worth of extra value for just $3600 over the price of the variants on which they’re based.

The S line treatment has been applied to the Q7 TFSI quattro 185kW (formerly known as the 45 TFSI) and the Q7 TDI quattro 170kW (formerly known as the 45 TDI).

The Q7 TFSI quattro 185kW S line edition is priced at $112,415 before on-road costs, and the Q7 TDI quattro 170kW S line edition is priced at $124,130 before on-roads.

Joining the model year 2026 (MY26) Q7 lineup, the new S line editions are due to arrive “shortly” to showrooms, according to Audi Australia.

Their arrival now means every Q7 powertrain can be paired with the S line appearance package, which brings an array of interior and exterior enhancements to the second-generation large seven-seat luxury SUV, which dates back a decade.

Over the regular TFSI quattro 185kW and TDI quattro 170kW, the new S line editions gain the following equipment:

  • Metallic or pearl exterior paint
  • 21-inch Audi Sport alloy wheels in satin grey with black inserts
  • S line exterior
  • Unique front and rear bumpers
  • Black and Scandium grey exterior trim elements
  • S line aluminium sill plates (illuminated up front)
  • Black headliner

In all, it’s a noticeable cosmetic upgrade over the lesser Q7s, which ride on 20-inch alloy wheels.

To add metallic or pearl paint alone to the TFSI quattro 185kW or TDI quattro 170kW, you’re looking at a $2400 outlay.

Stepping up to the new S line editions also gives you access to S line-specific colours like Chilli Red and Daytona Grey.

Like the Q7s they’re based on, the new S line editions include the following equipment as standard:

  • Adaptive air suspension
  • Matrix LED headlights
  • 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster
  • 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system
  • 8.6-inch climate control display
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Satellite navigation
  • 10-speaker sound system
  • Wireless phone charger
  • Leather-appointed upholstery
  • Heated, power-adjustable front seats
  • Tri-zone climate control
  • Adaptive Drive Assist
    • Adaptive cruise control with stop/go
    • Traffic jam assist
    • Lane guidance assist
  • Blind-spot monitoring
  • Rear cross-traffic alert
  • Safe exit warning
  • Surround-view camera

The Q7 TFSI quattro 185kW uses a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine producing 185kW of power (as the name indicates) and 370Nm of torque. Audi claims a 0-100km/h time of 7.3 seconds and combined-cycle fuel consumption of 9.3L/100km.

The Q7 TDI quattro 170kW comes with a 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6 with 170kW and 500Nm, allowing it to dash to 100km/h in a claimed 7.1 seconds. It uses 7.0L/100km and features a 48V mild-hybrid system.

Both come standard with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.

They slot in under more powerful 210kW/600Nm turbo-diesel and 250kW/500Nm turbo-petrol six-cylinder Q7s, as well as the flagship twin-turbo V8-powered SQ7 which pumps out 373kW and 770Nm.

The current-generation Q7 is nearing the end of its (long) run. It entered production in 2015, though it has been facelifted twice since then with the most recent update taking place in 2025.

A new Q7 will debut in 2026, and it will be joined for the first time by an all-new Q9 flagship.

Slotting above the Q7 and its sleeker Q8 counterpart, the Q9 is expected to be an even larger three-row SUV to better take on the likes of the BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS.
