Load Up Your Wagons for These Upcoming Events

One of the wonderful things about the car world is that no matter which model you’re into, there’s a group for people who share your passion for it. Are you a diehard Isuzu enthusiast? You’re not alone. Do you miss seeing Saabs on the road? You can drive in a convoy of them during the next owners gathering. If you’re into station wagons, be sure to mark your calendar for WagonFest and the Impala SS Clubs of America Nationals. Then decide how many family members and friends you’re going to take with you in your longroof.

Enthusiast organization Avants will be holding two WagonFests. The first, WagonFest SoCal 2025, will take place at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles on Sunday, May 18. The second, WagonFest PNW (Pacific Northwest) 2025, is scheduled for Saturday, September 13 at LeMay – America’s Car Museum in Tacoma, Washington. The Petersen described the 2024 WagonFest held at its facility as “a day filled with sleek lines, vintage charm, and the unmistakable allure of wagons.” Whether you’re into 1980s Volvo 240s or the Lexus IS300 SportCross models from the 2000s, you should be able to find them and chat with their dedicated owners at the WagonFest closest to you.

Between those two festivals is the Impala SS Clubs of America Nationals, June 25-28 in Kentucky. It won’t be a wagons-only event, but wagon owners are welcome to attend. According to a post on the GM Longroof Forum, there will be drag racing at the Beech Bend Raceway in Bowling Green and road racing and autocrossing at the National Corvette Museum Motorsports Park. The party ends with a car show, stereo sound-off, and an awards banquet. You won’t see a ’90s Impala SS wagon there (unless it’s a custom job), but expect to be surrounded by B-bodies, such as the Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser, Chevrolet Caprice Classic Wagon, and Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon, as well as other roomy GM people-movers.
