2026 Mercedes-AMG G63 Offroad Pro brings more muscle – for a price

The 2026 Mercedes-AMG G63 Offroad Pro has been confirmed for Australia with – as its name suggests – several off-road oriented upgrades designed for the rough stuff, making it the new flagship of the esteemed G-Class lineup.

Priced at a hefty $383,900 before on-road costs ($15,500 more than the regular G63), the Offroad Pro combines extra suspension smarts and exclusive drive modes with more cabin gear in a more rugged package.

These include AMG Traction Pro, which manages torque distribution to each individual wheel across seven different stages to improve traction in slippery conditions.

Also exclusive to the special G-Wagen is AMG Active Ride Control to improve wheel and suspension articulation off-road.

The Active Ride Control includes an active stabilisation package with specifically tuned off-road damper settings, achieved through larger-diameter shock absorber pistons and bigger pressure reservoirs.

It also scores AMG Active Balance Control, which offers three different roll stiffness settings to improve stability on different surfaces, such as sand, gravel, rocks and other challenging terrain.

The Offroad Pro comes with all-terrain tyres in place of the standard road-focused rubber, on 20-inch matte-black alloy wheels, with the extra mud-slinging contained by rear mud flaps and rubber mats in the cabin and cargo areas.

There’s also more cargo-carrying capability thanks to a standard roof luggage rack with ‘walk-on access’ and a rear-mounted ladder.

The cabin also comes with an AMG Performance steering wheel trimmed in Nappa leather, Burmester audio, wireless smartphone charging, and temperature-controlled cupholders.

The G63 Offroad Pro comes with the same 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged petrol V8 and the same nine-speed automatic transmission as the standard version, so outputs are unchanged at 430kW of power and 850Nm of torque.

Mercedes-Benz is set to expand the G-Class model line into a sub-brand. It is developing a smaller version so far dubbed the Mini G, which was teased last month by the German automaker, and is also expected to ride on a ladder frame but offer electric-only power.

There are also reports Mercedes-Benz will add a larger, seven-seat model to the G-Class lineup, to rival the hot-selling Land Rover Defender.

In Australia, the G-Class range currently opens with the diesel-powered G450d ($214,900 before on-roads), and also includes the all-electric G580 priced from $249,900 plus on-roads.
