AutoHunter Spotlight: 1986 Buick Regal T-Type

Now on AutoHunter is this 1986 Buick Regal T-Type. It is powered by the same engine installed in the Grand National, a 235-horsepower 3.8-liter V6 backed by a Turbo Hydra-matic 200-4R automatic transmission. Features include center console, cruise control, power windows and locks, air conditioning, and more. Finished in Maroon with a Dark Red velour interior, this new-age muscle car comes from the seller with original manuals, service receipts, CARFAX report, and clear title.

The Regal T-Type did not feature a monochromatic scheme like the Grand National—the Maroon paint is complemented by chrome bumpers, though other traditionally chrome items (like door handles) are blacked-out. The domed hood features “3.8 SFI Turbo” script on both sides.

A set of 15-inch cast aluminum wheels are wrapped in 215/65 BFGoodrich Radial T/As.

The interior features Dark Red velour upholstery. Front buckets are bisected by a center console housing the transmission shifter and features a hidden compartment. Other interior features include power steering, tilt wheel with three-spoke sport wheel, power windows and door locks, power mirrors, air conditioning, and original AM/FM/cassette.

The instrument panel consists of an 85-mph speedometer, 6,000-rpm tachometer, boost psi gauge, and fuel gauge. The odometer shows 1,192 miles, which is likely 101,192 based on the most recent CARFAX.

The 235-horsepower turbo V6 has all the features that were a product of the 1980s while being inspired by the 1960s, such as sequential fuel injection with intercooler, and electronic ignition. An aluminum radiator has been added. A four-speed automatic with overdrive handles the speeds and rpms.

The undercarriage features an independent front suspension with a rear suspension consisting of four-link control arms and solid axle. Power brakes, with discs up front, put a stop to it. Dual exhausts pipe out the dirty air.

The auction for this 1986 Buick Regal T-Type conversion ends on Friday, January 31, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. (MST).
