Pick of the Day: 2005 Dodge Ram SRT-10 Pickup

The Dodge Viper is an undisputed American icon – it is a car that was engineered from the very beginning over 30 years ago to be the ultimate in raw performance. You may not have known, however, that about 20 years ago, Dodge also put the Viper’s 8.3-liter V10 engine into a pickup truck. There were about 10,000 trucks sold in such a configuration, including this one:

The Pick of the Day is a 2005 Dodge Ram SRT-10 pickup listed for sale on ClassicCars.com by a private seller in Wind Gap, Pennsylvania. (Click the link to view the listing)

“Number 69 of 500 Yellow Fever numbered editions,” the listing says, “And only 200 two-doors were made in this edition.” The truck has only 19,228 miles on the odometer, and the seller says it has been garage-kept its entire life.

Based on the Ram 1500 pickup, the Ram SRT-10 was a limited-production, high-performance model that was introduced for the 2004 model year and manufactured through 2006. Some were built in regular-cab configurations, and some were quad-cabs. But what they all had in common was the Viper-derived engine:

Power comes from a Chrysler 8.3-liter V8 that was rated at 500 horsepower and 525 lb-ft of torque. Even though the regular cab SRT-10 had a curb weight of over 5,000 pounds, it could accelerate to 60 miles per hour in only 4.9 seconds. It’s no wonder the scoop on the hood was named the “power bulge.” Torque could be sent to the rear wheel through either a Tremec T56 six-speed manual transmission or a four-speed automatic. In this case, it’s a three-pedal truck with the stick shift.

In addition to the hood scoop, there were a lot of other exterior features added to the mix that set the SRT-10 apart from regular Dodge pickups, including billet-style grille inserts, massive 22-inch wheels, a spoiler, and color-matched bumpers. There was simply no mistaking this truck for anything else on the road. The interior blends in some color-matched treatment, including dash accent panels and a placard that denotes the “Yellow Fever” configuration (with a production run of only 500 total units).

The listing says, “Title in hand. Four new tires, new battery and a new Mobil 1 oil change. Truck is ready to rumble.” With only 19,000 miles on the clock, this truck has a lot of rumbling left to do.

The asking price is $55,000 or best offer.
