You may notice a trend to the top 10 sales from Thursday’s action at the Barrett-Jackson 2025 Scottsdale Auction. Cool vehicles? Of course, but that’s not what I’m getting at. Modified cars and trucks? Yes, but guess again. Here’s the answer: Almost all of the vehicles on the list were American.
It’s true that the Ectomobile that claimed the top spot on the list with a sale price of $297,000 is most identifiable as a re-creation of the vehicle the Ghostbusters used to combat supernatural threats, but the basis of that was a 1959 Cadillac with coachwork by Miller-Meteor. In second place at $269,500 was a customized 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle that packs a 580-horsepower supercharged 6.2-liter V8 under its hood. A 2020 Jeep Gladiator with $168,000 in upgrades, including a stroked 448ci Hemi, came in at #3 with a hammer price of $220,000.
Ford and Chevy made up the bulk of the rest of the top 10, which was closed out by the West German 1964 Amphicar 770 that went for $154,000.
