With over 1,900 cars at WestWorld for the Barrett-Jackson 2025 Scottsdale Auction, it can be difficult to choose what we want to show you. There’s never any guarantee the cars I like will be liked by others. And, we sometimes like to post vehicles that may not have gotten a lot of attention, but are popular online!
As your faithful fan of all things Barrett-Jackson, I trust these Tent 3 highlights will pique your interest.
1957 Oldsmobile 98 Starfire Convertible (Lot 728.1)
Out of all the brands in Detroit, Oldsmobile (along with Cadillac, to a point) was the only one that carried the “old” naming system into the the modern era—the Series 90 with a V8 was called “98.” The Starfire name applied to 98 convertibles from 1954-57, which added contemporary Atomic Age luster to the Rocket Division of General Motors.
This 98 Starfire is painted in Artesian Blue with matching blue and white interior. A 371 Rocket V8 is paired with the (standard for the 98) Jetaway Hydra-Matic Drive four-speed automatic, but what piques our interest is the Autronic Eye, which automatically dims high-beam lights when oncoming cars approach.
1994 and 1999 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Anniversary Convertibles (Lots 669 & 855.1)
Anniversary Trans Ams have been a thing since 1976 when Pontiac celebrated 50 years. There were several others through the 1970-80s, with the 1994 being the first of the new decade. This edition honored the original ’69 with a similar paint scheme, with 250 of the 2,000 built being convertibles, all equipped with the four-speed automatic.
Five years later, there was a new anniversary to celebrate. The same-generation Trans Am was being produced, but a facelift from the year before gave the Trans Am new verve. The Anniversary edition now was equipped with the WS6 package, increasing horsepower from the ‘94’s 275 to 320. This 47-mile coupe is #803 of 1,600 built, plus it was official pace car for the Daytona 500 so there’s more to commemorate.
1957 John Deere 620 Orchard Streamline Tractor (Lot 623)
I don’t know if you’ve ever noticed that there are tractors that are collectible. There’s some fantastic designs that have appeared on farms in the past (Minneapolis-Moline comes to mind), and this John Deere projects the same vibes thanks to a healthy dose of style. The Italophiles can lust after Lamborghini tractors but this restored example of Iowa’s finest is for me!
Power comes from a 5.0-liter two-cylinder (!) paired to a six-speed manual with reverse—yes, that’s a thing. Options include lights, tachometer, power take-off, Powr-Trol hydraulics, float-ride seat, and side shield engine covers.
