Ford Australia has announced further details on its 2026 Ford Ranger Super Dutyrevealing it will be heavier, longer and almost as expensive as a Ranger Raptor.

The Super Duty is a more capable version of the Ranger and is due in Australia showrooms in early 2026, with greater towing capacity and payload figures.

It gives the Ranger, Australia’s best-selling vehicle in both 2023 and 2024, a further point of difference from key rival Toyota HiLux, as well as a raft of new dual-cab utes including the Kia Tasman and MG U9.

Ford Australia has previously confirmed pricing for the three models – with more body styles to follow – with the Single Cab-Chassis at $82,990, the Super Cab-Chassis $86,490 and the Double Cab-Chassis at $89,990.

All prices are before on-road costs and don’t include a factory tray, which cost between $5966 to $8166 including fitment.

The Super Duty will be powered by a 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6 running AdBlue and detuned to 154kW/600Nm to meet ever tightening emissions regulations.

It will be paired with a 10-speed automatic – with the manual transmission dropped from the Ranger lineup when the current generation was introduced in 2022 – and full-time four-wheel drive.

The automaker also confirmed the Super Duty will be 5470mm long – against Raptor’s 5425mm – 2197mm wide and 1985mm tall for the entry-level Single-Cab Chassis.

Even the lightest, entry-level version will be heavier than a Ranger Raptor’s 2479kg, clocking in with a kerb weight of 2518kg.

The Super Cab-Chassis weighs 2615kg and the Double Cab-Chassis will be the heaviest Ranger offered to date at 2675kg, with all weights before a tray is added.

Payloads are 1982kg, 1885kg and 1825kg respectively, all significantly above the best of the standard Ranger lineup’s payload of 1494kg in the XL Hi-Rider Cab Chassis.

Ford previously confirmed 4500kg towing and gross vehicle mass (GVM), 8000kg gross combined mass (GCM) and strengthened axles rated at 1900kg (front) and 2800kg (rear).

Ground clearance will be 295mm to 299mm, with 850mm wading depth – 50mm over the standard Ranger – with an approach angle of 36.3 degrees for the Single Cab Chassis, which has a 29.3 degree departure angle and 26.9 degree breakover angle.

There will be seven selectable drive modes: Normal, Eco, Towing, Slippery, Mud, Sand and Rock Crawl. It also features heavy-duty suspension and upgraded front and rear differentials.

All models have locking front and rear differentials.

Standard equipment includes eight-stud 18-inch steel wheels with 275/70 General Grabber A/T (all-terrain) tyres and a full-size spare, with LED headlights, LED daytime running lights and front fog lights.

A ‘Super Duty’ branded snorkel is also standard, as are electric, heated exterior mirrors with puddle lamps, and composite side steps.

Inside, there’s vinyl flooring and cloth seats.

There’s an 8.0-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system running Ford’s SYNC4 system and featuring wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and satellite navigation.

There’s also a rear centre-mirror USB socket, 400W inverter and two 12V power outlets.

Ford also announced an extensive list of accessories for the Super Duty, including specially designed trays, bull bars and winches.

Three option packs – Farm, Work and Adventure packs – bring different combinations of trays and accessories.
