2025 bmw z4 m40i review add manual for max fun

Friend of the site Connie Peters has a video review of the 2025 BMW Z4 M40i for us — the one with the manual.

You can watch her video below, and/or check out the transcript, cleaned up via AI, also below.

Transcript:

This is the 2025 BMW Z4 M40i, now available with a six-speed manual transmission. For my American friends, yes, it’s the Z4. Personally, I think “BMW Z4” sounds better than “Zed 4.”

The car is finished in Frozen Deep Green Metallic, a matte paint that looks fantastic but does show dirt and water spots easily. It rained last night, so you’ll notice some spotting. The car is equipped with M Sport brakes, larger wheels, and of course the manual gearbox. It’s quick, fun, and well-equipped with the premium leather interior option.

Exterior

This spec includes black grilles and accents, M badging, and M Performance brakes. The M40i uses a twin-turbo inline-six, while the base Z4 comes with a four-cylinder. I’ll cover pricing later.

Inside, you’ll find premium leather, M Sport seatbelts, and a Harman Kardon sound system with speakers behind the seats. There’s also useful netting for storage—I use it for my bag when driving my daughter to school.

Driving Experience

The electronic parking brake disengages automatically, which makes driving easier compared to older manual cars with a mechanical handbrake. This model also features hill-hold assist, which keeps the brakes engaged for a few seconds when starting on a slope—useful in hilly areas.

Performance figures include 382 horsepower, 369 lb-ft of torque, and 0–60 mph in about 3.9 seconds. It’s a comfortable yet engaging drive, especially with the manual transmission.

Interior

The seats include thigh extenders and the cabin has thoughtful details like a leather shift knob, wireless charging pad, USB ports, and controls for the soft top. The infotainment system is easy to use, with wireless Apple CarPlay on a large screen, a fully digital driver display, and a head-up display.

Drive modes include Sport, Comfort, and Individual. I prefer configuring Individual mode with the exhaust in Sport, suspension in Comfort, and lighter steering. Adaptive cruise control is included, which is rare for a manual car but welcome on longer drives. Heated seats and a heated steering wheel are also equipped, though ventilation is not available.

Conclusion

The 2025 Z4 is stylish, enjoyable to drive, and filled with luxury touches. The base four-cylinder starts at about $82,000 CAD ($55,000 USD). This Frozen Deep Green Metallic paint is a $6,000 CAD ($2,900 USD) option, with additional costs for wheels and the premium package.

In Canada, the manual transmission comes standard on the M40i, while in the US it’s a $3,500 option. This particular car is priced at $96,000 CAD (about $78,000 USD).

It’s a fun, beautiful roadster that makes a strong statement. Let me know what you think in the comments, and don’t forget to subscribe.
